About the collection

Each jacket design is exclusively hand-painted to tell a story. Beyond traditional lettering, Rei Misiri's self-created style sees calligraphy through the eyes of rhythm, energy, and sound. The improvised brushwork on these series creates vibrancy, authenticity, and individuality.

About the artist

Rei Misiri is a multidisciplinary artist migrated from Tirana, Albania. Over his earlier challenges with cultural adaptation, Rei found urban art and dance as an outlet to embrace his identity. His dynamic clash of traditional calligraphy and contemporary street art have been featured with organizations and galleries including Sony Centre For The Preforming Arts, Art Gallery Of Ontario, Toronto Raptors, Red Bull, Heineken, Mercedes Benz, and Nissan. As dance was his first breath into the creative world, Rei traveled and met high ranks nationally and internationally at world renowned urban dance events including Can I Get a Soul Clap (Montreal), and The Notorious IBE (Herleen, Holland). He has also shared the stage with musicians including Kanye West, Pitbull, and K-OS. Asides from his fascination with meshing art and dance, Rei strongly values using art as a tool to empower youth in need of holistic development. Since 2006, Rei has consistently shared his knowledge and experiences in high schools, community centers, and hospitals across Ontario including Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto Public Library, and Yorkdale Arts Centre.

As he reflects on his holistic growth through dance, Rei’s body of work tributes globally iconic pioneers and leaders of dance styles including House, Disco, and Hip Hop. Through personal interviews with them, Rei uses elaborate line work to visually unveil each dancers’ movement, rhythm, emotion, and architecture during their meditative experiences. During his improvisation with calligraphic tools, the pieces channel the whimsicality of each dancers’ spontaneous precision.
